Kingspan Water, a leading supplier of rainwater harvesting equipment to the UK building industry, has appointed Andy Thompson to be its Sector Development Manager for builders’ merchants.
The position, a first for Kingspan Water within this sector, has been introduced to support sales growth within merchants in the burgeoning rainwater harvesting market.
Andy, who has worked with merchants for more than 20 years - and at Kingspan for nearly 19 years - says: “Rainwater harvesting offers huge opportunities for merchants.
“My job is to ensure that everyone inside and outside Kingspan Water helps realise that potential. In addition to supporting our sales teams, I’ll be working with builders and developers who can have a critical influence on decisions made by end-users. Working right across the industry, and supporting merchants at every level will ensure that we succeed in driving this profitable sector.
“I’m also going to manage key merchant accounts in the UK and will be fully responsible for developing business with specific accounts at senior and regional level.”
One important area that Andy will be helping merchants to focus on will be understanding legislation - a key driver in determining the requirements within the market.
He continues: “Water efficiency savings are becoming part of every day life, thanks in no small part to changes in building regs and the enforcement of environmental ratings. Merchants who work together with experienced suppliers can anticipate and respond to demand, which of course means that suppliers and manufacturers also benefit.”
